Changed EGR Valve and now wont start

Hello,
My scirocco has had a terrible idle for about a year now and no one has been able to find what has been causing this. I have had fuel injectors tested and cleaned and they were fine, I have had a dual mass flywheel replacement and the issue still hasn't gone. Finally a company had investigated and found out my EGR valve was absolutely knackered and said this was causing the issues I have been getting. So the EGR valve has now been replaced and now the car wont even start up and the battery is completely dead anybody know what is now causing this?

The battery should probably be charged in order to start the car.
There's not really any reason that cleaning the EGR should cause the car to not start.

Thanks for your response, the battery was fine before so I have put a new battery in now but still wont start after changing the EGR valve, just don't know what to do now!

Are you getting any power at all, dash light, stereo etc?
Any fault codes?
Is it turning over but not firing?
Come on, you aren't giving us much to go on here

Hi there,
No fault codes, nothing on the dashboard just sounds like there's no compression

So you have power then, and it's turning over, but not firing (so not battery related then)
What does no compression sound like?

Also, have you tried refitting the old EGR valve, just in case the new one is faulty for any reason

I haven't yet, I may give that ago and see if that's a possibility. If it still isn't running when I do that what else do you think it could be? It was running fine before we did the change over.

I can only assume you have disturbed something else when replacing the EGR as that alone should not have caused the battery to flatten or stop the car firing

I have someone looking at it, I will let you know if we get to the bottom of it!
