New maf sensor and rough acceleration ?

Post by Marcust »

Hi I'm having some problems with my car it's not running right And lagging on acceleration and the idle is abit boggy I plugged the car in got the mass air flow sensor implausible signal p0101 code , fuel trim system to rich p0172 ,boost pressure regulation control range not reached p0299, I have checked for leaks can't seem to find any so went and purchased a new maf sensor from vw have fitted but still getting the same thing happen as of yet I haven't been able to plug the car back in and wipe the codes would that make a difference as I heard the codes need to be wiped so the new maf can register to the car but then I've heard it wouldn't matter about that can anyone shed any light on this? Or as to why it mite be happening thanks

Don't you have a bad ground wire on your battery or ground connection somewhere? Sounds like you have a lot of electrical problems when i read all your topics.

Honestly mate I've had nothing but problems with this car from the start I've checked everyfing I can to find the causes for the problems purchased new parts took it to garages had it plugged in only faults shown where the air mass and fuel to rich ones so got new maf sensor checked all pipes stil the exact same also the electrical problems with horn not workin rear wiper front washer and 12v sockets in car previous owner had messed about with the lights on the front before me and had made a mess of the wiring! when I installed the r bumper n drl I seem to have sorted them out but maybe there's sumit ther that's causin all this bad connection or something wouldn't that show up on diagnostics tho? Could a bad ground connection cause these things I'm explaining then I just dnt no where to go from here now ill check the connectors tomorow tho now you have said that and any others I can get to ! Maybe it's time to sell up and take a loss than to keep chucking money into it and not being able to find the problem!

No a fault in the wiring wouldn't show up on a code reader. I'd follow the wiring back from the headlights, looking for any breaks/missed earth's along the way and the wiring from the MAF, look for splits in the wiring/any dodgey earth points.

Your MAF may well be spot on, but if it can't get the signal back to the ECU its useless chap
