Re: Slipping Clutch, Or is it ????
Same thing happend to me once i got a stage 1, diffidently the clutch.
Once mine started slipping i drove it carfelly for about a month before i got arounbd to getting one fitted.
Mine all in was £1300, Helix clutch with standard DMF from awesomegti £800 and about £500 in labour.
Im sure when i was researching that once its gone its gone even if you put it back to standard.

Re: Slipping Clutch, Or is it ????
Be careful if it's doing that, my old Golf GTI 1.8T did that clutch was doing it more and more to the point where to get it to the garage was a painful VERY VERY high rev run .... the pinging sound of that cooling when I stopped was Shocking
plus from first noticing to it actually becoming complete gone only took about a week.
best bit about that is, I then replace it with a SMF and a Sachs clutch - this lasted about a week, though, A pin split on the gearbox, shot through the wall of the bell housing and doused the new clutch in oil!
after that it was another new clutch - a new DMF and a new Gearbox!

I'd say it was still clutch slip, give it time it will rear it's ugly head once again haha
Best off starting a clutch kit fund, I went for the helix set up on my manual R was under £750 posted from aks tuning then under £250 labour fitted from ade tuning

Re: Slipping Clutch, Or is it ????
It was clutch slip, sometimes it may only happen in certain scenarios and not happen again for a while...
If it starts to happen again I would either
Have the car returned to standard
Have a custom map done that has a gentler torque curve
upgrade to a Helix Organic.

Re: Slipping Clutch, Or is it ????
My advice is do not ride the torque curve and use the increased power so change down a cog and use the gears, you become lazy driving mapped cars due to the mid range
Clutches seem to vary in how they respond to maps, on my Rocco i had clutch slip, it went away and then came back worse
In terms of clutches the Helix has a better pedal feel than the Sachs and I would call AKS tuning who will probably be better value than Awesome and do a better job putting it back together

Is Helix OEM in feel/operation?

Re: Slipping Clutch, Or is it ????
It's a little bit heavier, but the feel and take up is very close to OEM.3t3p wrote:Is Helix OEM in feel/operation?
The problem is you cannot simply have a clutch capable of dealing with the power and torque that isn't heavier in some way.
I have a 6 paddle Helix and lived with it daily. My Mrs who drives a 1.0 Vauxhall Viva manages with it totally fine.

Going by his profile it's a manual box.Bekki wrote:Is it dsg? Mine did this and I had a new gear box as there was iron filings in the oil
