Hi not sure if this is the right place to post it but just wondering if there's anyone that's looking to sell their scirocco R anytime soon, I have a normal 170bhp TDI Roc and want an upgrade

Not quite that desperate yet, even though that is a very tempting offer of course

Had my R for 2 weeks today and my total average has been 26mpg. Bear in mind that is changing up gears later in the rev range and sitting in 3rd around some twisty scottish roads for half the miles I've done.

is that the 265bhp?
wanted one for ages but settled with the more fuel efficient 170 tdi, as im only 21 i want a more aggressive looking rear end with the exhausts either side and all the extras, havent got anything to spend my money on apart from a car so fuel shouldn't be too much of a problem for me

I've had my R (280PS) for exactly 9 months as of today and have averaged 35mpg (which I think is what VW claim it will do) after nearly 9,000 miles. The R strikes a pretty good compromise between power and economy.
I'd advise you to just buy a brand new one, as the chances are that a used one will have been run ragged and probably not bedded-in properly in its early days. Plus it allows you to customise exactly what you want, rather than waiting for one that might not fit exactly what you're looking for.
Hope you enjoy it when it comes!

That's all I'm dreading, getting one that's had a tough life..I'd be over the moon if mine hit 35mpg, all depends how you drive it I suppose

I'd be fairly happy with that too! I must say it's come down a little in recent weeks (low 30s) since the cold snap has struck and the traffic has increased on my commute. I give the car a good blast now and then, but in general I'm very economical in my driving style (which, I realise, is somewhat oxymoronic for an R driver!).

NB this was also while running a bottle of Wynn's injector cleaner through the tank.
My prev very best mpg was 32 in summer with less dense air. So getting 33mpg in winter I feel is significant. Engine is sooo smooth and sounds amazing, mpg is slightly improved. I did not expect it to do anything and was wary of placebo effect but the gf noticed the sound on a blast the other week too:p
Can recommend for older engines and cheaper than Redx
