Bonnet Alignment

Post by jsmith91 »

Just bought a 2015 R-Line with 4K miles on the clock.

Got the beautiful thing home and noticed the bonnet was slightly out of alignment on the drivers side.

I took it back to the dealer this morning and they claimed it was 'normal' for sciroccos, which after reading some threads on here, sounds feasible.

Just wondering if anyone had seen this before, and if so did you manage to get it rectified with the dealer?

Cheers!

They are spinning you a load of rubbish.... don't accept their tale of it being 'normal'

Have you got pics?

I'll post some pics later on.

it's probably about 3-5mm overhanging the wing on the driver's side, but seems to be fairly flush on the passenger side.

The guy I spoke to seemed to think that they make a "compromise" when fitting them as they're "not designed to sit flush"

I've seen a few other people post on here about similar issues, so it looks like a common fault. :(

Yeah, the bonnets can go a bit wonky; there's 4 bolts on the underside that can be tightened to bring it back into alignment.

Get the spanners out and tighten off the bolts on the side that's 'out', with a careful eye and a bit of patience you should have it streight in about 10 minutes!
