Scirocco replacement

I often see comments on the board about a replacement for the current Scirocco which is now 8 years old. I think VW have got away with not launching a new model up to now because the original design of the car was so good (it still looks good).
However with their current financial situation and the fact there is now a 1.8 petrol version of the Audi TT I don't believe there is any chance of VW spending the money needed for a Scirocco Mk4 and I believe they will go on selling the current car (with maybe a few minor updates) until the sales volumes become uneconomic.
Sorry to be pessimistic but I think fans of the car (including me) have to be realistic.

I agree.

To save money they have to concentrate on their volume sellers. SUVs, golf, polo, Up. That's where the money is for them. The niches are easy to kill off.

I've had mine for 8 years in March and although I'd always planned to replace it in 2017 and I would have been happy to get a MkIV, I've got a TT on order.
It's been a fantastic car, and still is, but I don't see VW replacing it any time soon. The death of the R has already been announced in Australia so I think they'll make it for another 1-2 years max and then stop production.
