Just got my car sorted with a revo stage one at Midland VW (who are great! Got the car o the rollers a few hours after I first enquired)

Generating a healthy 253 bhp up from 215 at stock. Running super unleaded.

Happy so far, need to do a proper test drive!

Remaps are a very cheap way of upgrading a car sure you will enjoy the extra grunt, yrs ago similar bhp gains would have cost thousands to achieve

Just changed the air filter for a new one, and the car is even quicker now. Looks like the old one had been in place for years!

Remaps on turbo cars are really awesome as you say. Find it interesting that people I work with are convinced it must be a con! ALway here the line "if its that easy why don't VW do it from the factory"

Must say I dont agree with people who decribe the revo map as crazy. Had an APR stage 1 on my old GTi with the 2.0 TFSI and it felt very similar.

I had Revo stage 2 on my TFSI Mk5 GTI and it was spot on.

Mostly because that way they wouldn't be able to charge a premium for higher powered cars

Another large part of it is reliability too, pushing a cars power up beyond what it was designed to do will inevitably reduce the reliability of certain aspects of the engine/drivetrain, which a lot of people seems blissfully unaware of

The reason they're often de-tuned is to cope with higher temperatures in hotter climates, climates who are higher and have thinner air, poorer fuel quality in other countries, repeatability, and also for emissions reasons. They also sometimes offer tuning via their dealerships which will offer warranty, as an upgrade which can sometimes be sold.

Had mine tuned for a year now all good so far only thing I had an issue with was coilpacks when doing the map :)

I went with APR due to the switchable maps and 30% off.

Spot on, as long as map keeps within manufacturer tolerances should be as reliable

Apr is really good alternative to rtech or similar :)

Stock clutch sometimes holds but if it slipping you can buy a mildly upgraded Helix organic clutch which will be great.

I had mine done there. Mines a 1.4 twincharged and it's running nearly 230bhp now [emoji3]
It's pretty awesome, but one problem is that all the power is at the top of the rev range rather than all the way through as with the 2.0's

Yeah she definitely pulls a lot harder with the extra torque! Before the map I had to use 3rd to get up a hill on the way to work, no chance of 4th at all, but now I can easily blast up there in 4th!

I am running stock clutch, had it replaced year ago just before the map due to warranty, so wish they would have let me upgrade it for extra as I knew i was going to get it mapped I tried and failed!

I noticed if I pull away hard spinning the tyres with traction control on the smell of burning clutch is mental! haven't done that again!

If the wheels are spinning with the Traction Control on, you're probably smelling the brake pads overheating as the system tries to slow the spinning wheel down.

I went from standard to stage 2 (Revo) once I had an induction kit, exhaust and uprated clutch (not necessarily necessary) as its a manual and it was definitely worth it :D
