Emission Control Light on after 'software update'

The warning light comes on intermittently after it went in for the emissions software update. Car was parked up on drive for a week after the update while on holiday, only started playing up after that, car drives fine. Phoned Johnsons Friday to report it but they haven't called me back 
Any ideas? is it something to do with the update, seems a coincidence it's never come on before. Anyone else had this after the emissions scandal update?
Not sure how to handle it with the dealer going forward? It's a 12 plate GT 140. Only done 25k miles.
