My R Line is due for it's 3rd year service soon and I'm told it includes oil change to the auto box which I gather is quite expensive to carry out This service is free (my last one) but it doesn't include the gear box oil change, which is extra.
Someone suggested, buy your own oil and tell them to use that. Question is, would most garages do this and, if so, what oil should I get and where's the best place to get it and how much?
Sorry to ask what are probably numpty question but this is our first car with auto box!

Re: Gearbox Oil
DSG oil and filter is due at 40K miles and every 40K miles thereafter. Dealers tend to charge around £180 foe everything. The DSG oil is quite expensive even if you buy it yourself. Personally, I would just have the dealer supply the oil and for them to do it. It certainly would make it easier should you have an issue with the DSG in future and would like goodwill from VW. The DSG is quite a complex piece of kit and you don't want to take any risks.
Most garages will allow you to supply your own consumables like oil as long as it's the correct grade and meets the required spec. With the DSG I would only use the VAG recommended oil which limits your supply to TPS or VAG dealers.
