New owner completely confused with connecting iPhone 6

Hi,

Im a new owner and new to VW and all thing Scirocco.

I just picked up my 2009 Diesel GT that came with a FISCON Basic+ from Kufatec for bluetooth. The head unit I understand is a RCD510?


In an ideal world I'd like to connect over bluetooth and play Spotify, and be able to skip tracks and see Now Playing, OR connect over the lightning cable to do the same (and charge).

The FISCON unit tells me it's Mainboard 1.81, PBoard 3.11.3, and trying the Update option results in "User manual!" being helpfully displayed. Music over this sounds terrible.


I have a number of MDI cables

• USB
  30pin
  Lightning
  Lightning & AUX

Only the AUX cable is working for music, and none allow me to see track details or control playback. Either nothing is displayed, or an error is displayed.


I know the colour of the collar is important, so I have included it in the photos. The only cable I haven't tried is the 30pin with an adapter to lightning.

Right now I'm at a complete loss and amazed it is this difficult! I've searched the forums but either found vague information or "just use the aux socket", which isn't much use.

I would GUESS my options are

• Upgrade the HU software
  Upgrade the BT unit software
  Replace the HU
  Replace the BT unit

Can anyone take pity on me and guide me in the right direction?

Did you search the forum? I ask as I've personally posted the answer to this about three times now.

A cursory search should give you all the info you need.
