Exhaust light came on in the dash and I dropped it off at VW.

Was told it was a failed inlet manifold and a loss in pressure and was quote a price of £754.80 for parts and labour. I am not sure I want to take this plunge seeing as I spent £450 6 weeks ago on new coil packs and plugs.

Advice please.

That's rubbish Was the car running okay though when the light came on?

As it's a known and common issue, if you have a FVWSH it might be worth contacting Customer Services and try and get some goodwill contribution.

The car runs fine, doesnt feel like anything is wrong but thought i would gey it checked out. They wanted to charge me £135 for the diagnostics. I wangled a freebie. Sometimes I think the lights are just there as a cash cart for vw. A common issue around 46000 miles? Contemplating trading it.

Car ran lovely for best part of 6 years and last 6 months vw want over 1k of work doing.

I'm dreading for tomorrow, I'm taking my car in to VW as I too have the emission light on since last Thursday... I'm hoping is just the O2 sensor because I had a sport car fitted just over 3 weeks ago. But I'm not 100% sure as I would have thought the light would came on pretty much straight away when the cat was fitted.

My car has done approx 45k miles... I have heard so many ppl having problems with theirs with a lot less miles, I'm just worried my car was long overdue.

Have you encountered any other problems with yours?

£450 for new coilpacks and plugs!!
Its a 30 minute job awesome gave me a set of coilpacks for £80 after my remap popped one, plugs are about £40

He wasn't interested. I checked the code myself and it's the p2015 code, cleared it and remained off for about 10 miles. Thinking I could buy the part. Am I right that a 2l tsi is part number 06J133201BD? Found sellers in the states selling oem for fraction of price. Also I assume this is the only part that will need replacing.

Is this the right part? Also if I took it to a independent VW specialist what you reckon labour is 2 hours? So no more than £200?

Hold on a miniute, that's a crazy price for plugs and spark plugs... I don't car how little you know on car engines, anybody can change that.

What are the symptoms of the inlet manifold that failed? If you spending 700quid you may as well go for an IE or a HPA inlet. silly money.

Don't take It to VW, go to an indie garage

That price included the initial diagnostics which was like £135, hours labour and it adds up.

The guy said its to do with a lack pressure??? Its throwing up the P2015 code, I haven't really experienced any rough running as such but mpg is lower for sure.

I am in two minds whether to trade in or get the work done.

I have my car back, light is off for now but I was told it may come back. Apparently it generated three error codes (one being the O2 sensor as expected and the other two they forgot... it was something to do with breathing?? I have no idea!) Unfortunately it was a favour, mate's mate works in VW, I didn't want to push my luck as they cleared the fault and said to my mate they found nothing wrong mechanically, so I left it at that. I am gonna try this spacer for the O2 sensor before I run the car properly so hopefully the light wont come back on.

I did, however, remember that morning before I noticed the light on my dashboard (it didn't make any warning sound so I don't know exactly when it came on), I was cruising in 2nd gear (DSG) following a car doing 30mph on the outside lane on a dual carriageway (no cars on the inside lane btw)... soon she decided to move over, I accelerated or tried to - the rev went up to 6k but the car didn't accelerate, it felt like it was in-between gears, like an old automatic you had to wait a while to find the next gear! I let go of the pedal for a couple of seconds, it decided to change into 3rd and everything went back to normal... except the emission light obviously which I am not sure if this is related at all!

That's strnage. never heard of thsat before.

The engine light could be downpipe related if you haven't already ahd it mapped out though?

The O2 sensor is a pain in the backside to remove it's proper stuck!

Its unlikely its the 02 sensor tbh. ive never head of one going. just get it mapped out.

The O2 sensor code is normally an effect of a fault rather than the cause. Fundamental to the correct operation if an internal combustion engine is the correct fuel / air mixture. This is monitored by the O2 sensor and most engine faults will affect this mixture and cause the sensor to flag a fault.

Yes I am gonna get it mapped when I have the funds. I was just trying to add this spacer to the O2 sensor to see if the theory works - I heard people say adding the spacer take the sensor away from the main stream of flow which gives the sensor a lower reading, hence no emission light. I want to test this out but I don't even know if the light was related to the sport cat (the light hasn't come back on since after driving to and from work)

You can only map out or space out the post cat sensor as the pre-cat sensor is used to control the fuel/air mixture.

Has anyone tried this as a part to prevent the intake runner arm popping out?
