Rear cam field of view

The other day I put the car into reverse and the rear cam came on, but seamed to flick off then on again. I then noticed I could see the number plate across the bottom of the image. I have had the car for 8 months and was sure I had never seen this before. My first thought was oh my god someone has hit my car, I had to pull over and check, but there is no damage. Am I going mad, was the number plate always in view or has there been a software issue causing the field of view to change? Can anyone else see their number plate in the reversing cam? Please advise am I going mad?

Yes, I can see the very edge of the number plate and the bumper.
I had one on my Golf that popped out of the VW logo/boot handle. That one had a higher view and didn't show the number plate and just the thinnest strip of bumper.
I was surprised when I got the Scirocco that the view was so different, but being able to properly see the bumper is probably more useful. Having a short drive, I can get right up to about 3 inches from the garage door.
One thing that was better on the Golf was it never had raindrops on it!

See attached image. It shows the green box representing about half a car parking space. I thought it was supposed to represent a full space? See how much of the number plate is visible. Can anyone see this much of their number plate?
