Poor idle return speed

Hello to you all,

I have a problem with my car returning to idle speed and I will do my best to explain the fault.

Car details,

13 plate Scirocco R, manual, 10600 miles on the clock, have just started using good fuel not the supermarket fuel, K04 engine. Just had a revo map stage 1.

Fault,

Once warm, car stopped, engine on and up to temp, rev the engine to say 3k, the revs will drop to about 1200 and then I get a flutter, the engine shakes and I can hear, feel and see the revs erratically drop to the normal speed. Sometimes the revs will stick for a very short time just under 2k and drop slowly.

I went back to the garage where I got the map done today, they were very helpful and have pointed me in the direction of the unit that is at the front of the engine, I forget what it's called, think it's connected to the inter cooler located at the top middle. He suggested that this might need cleaning and was the first place he would start. He said that I have the new type DV and it's unlikely to be that.

To put my mind at reset and to eliminate any problems with the map, he reset all revo settings to 0. It still done the same thing. Now I'm thinking, because I'm a worry guts, and although the settings were set to 0 the base map is still on the ecu. Could this still cause the problem??????? I can't remember for the life of me if it done it before the map, I'm sure I would have notice the judder if it was already there but can't be certain.

So I have some good advice from a very helpful garage, but before I start taking bits off the engine for no reason, I was wondering if any of you nice people have experienced the same problem and what was the fix? I'm going to take a look this Saturday but the wait is killing me as I want to find out whats wrong asap :(

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and big thank you if you have an answer

Cheers Rich

Just an update,

I had a look this Saturday at the ICV and it's clean as a whistle. Admittedly I didn't get it completely off as it was an absolute nightmare of a job, think I would need 54 joints in each finger! I removed the intake pipe and found a small amount of oil in the bottom of the pipe. I'm guessing this is normal? I took a photo of the valve with my phone and it's like new, wiped the surface with a clean white rag and nothing came off.

I also took the smaller valve off to the right of the ICV and that seemed fine as well.

The car is still doing the same thing, it's not bad just bloody irritating. I called Revo Technical last week and just now and they are looking into it for me and to make sure the dynamic chassis control on my car doesn't interfere with the map in any way. Apparently this adjusts throttle response along with other things when selected, so making sure there's no compatibility issues with the map.
