Hi not sure which oil to put in my Scirocco 1.4 160 hp tsi and whether or not it is okay to top up as i don't know what type is already in there. Can any one help ?

Any brand of 5w30 that meets VW504.00 / VW507.00 will do the job.

Tbe factory uses Castrol Edge, so that's a safe bet.

I am not sure which brand was in before but i know it was long life, am i okay to mix two different brands of oil as long as they are both 5w-30

That oil is fine and yes as long as they are the same grade it's OK to mix different brands.

I just used quantum 5w-30 longlife 3 apparently re-branded castrol at a fraction of the price! I got it for £20 for 5 liters!

does it make any difference if I put 5w40?

or is it better just 5w30?

5W40 will reduce fuel economy slightly....stick with 5w30
