Courtesy Car Policy?
I dont know if any of you guys read the post regarding the rattling/grinding noise coming from the engine...but anyway..
VW will take my car in next Thursday to give it the full once over. When questioniong about the courtesy car, they said all we can give you is a Polo, because that is all our courtesy car fleet consists of. Are my dealers talking shite, or is the general trend across all dealers?
Surely paying hundreds of pounds a month for a Scirocco which is going to be off road because of VW, and then to be given a Polo in its place without having any sort of compensation is unfair?

Re: Courtesy Car Policy?
You're lucky, at least you are getting a car.
A colleague of mine at work recently took his 2 year old 330d in to have a blown turbo replaced only to find out that the dealer no longer supplied courtesy cars due to the economic climate.

Re: Courtesy Car Policy?
The courtesy fleet are never high spec, but the demo fleet generally is. If you need a courtesy car then they've already sold you the car, but a flashy demo car might sell you the car.
I generally get bog standard Golf S's, I've had a Touran 140TDI before, as well as a 1.9TDI Golf Plus recently.
It must be a rarity for dealerships to hand out GTIs etc as a courtesy car.

Thanks for the response guys.
I was just under the impression that they would give you a similiar car to the one you handed in. First time in dealing with such a situation...

My local dealer only gives out Polo's too - generally the horrendously specced ones too - awful cars!

Re: Courtesy Car Policy?
Ok so i guess the general trend is that we get very low spec cars no matter what we hand in to get repaired. Thought id see what you guys thought before I gave my local dealer an ear bashing

Their only obligation is to keep you mobile. After a bus smashed my last Golf, the bodyshop have me a Fiat Punto which was a baccy-tin on wheels! The indicator tick was a squeak that sounded like a tortured mouse. Even though the Bodyshop catered for Alfa, Fiat and the full VAG collection, all their courtesy cars were Fiats. Imagine putting in a top end Audi A8 and getting a £7000 Fiat to drive around in!

Re: Courtesy Car Policy?
To be fair to the dealers, how much do you think it costs to run a fleet of courtesy cars, if they gave you decent wheels then their costs would rise and thus your servicing costs would too. If its just in for a day or two then its not too much bother but any longer and I can see why some may be upset. All I can say is build up a good rapport with the sales staff and see if they can help wangle you better wheels when you need your car serviced.

Re: Courtesy Car Policy?
I have had the demo that the salesman I bought from using. Mk6 gti or passat highline. Ifind that while the car is new it's worth using the sales team to get any bugs sortted
