Locking doors with Engine running

Now the frosty morning are with us here in the uk I've been leaving the car running on the drive way for 10 minutes before I set off with the heater and car seat heaters running.
Currently I'm using the spare key to lock the drives door (My Passenger doors remain locked unless double press on keyfob) but i have to faf with the plastic cover to get to the lock and then replace when I set off.
I don't think plastic cover is designed to be removed a lot of times and every time you risk scratching paintwork etc.
Is there one available with hole for the key or do I drill my own and would this look naff opinions please.

Also when you have your passenger door configured so it doesn't unlock is there any way to unlock it when your key is in the ignition apart from leaning over an pulling the handle.

Not sure about changing the keyhole cover, but I would really advise against leaving your car unattended with the engine running. You are very likely not insured in the event your car is taken with the keys left in it. It would only take the work of seconds for someone to break the window and let themselves in.

Unlocking the passenger door, isn't there a button on the drivers door do this, like the Golf?

Install a run lock? The police have then so they can leave engine running with lights flashing when stopped at accident scene. It's really simple - a relay that connected to handbrake and foot brake and ignition, press a button, then that bypasses the ignition so u can remove the key, then if the brake pedal is pressed or handbrake released it cuts the ignition. That way even if someone did try to steal he car they remove the handbrake or touch the foot rake and the ignition dies, without the key they cannot restart it. Used to install them on police cars, had one in my old fiesta for the frosty mornings.
