Sorry to hear this. Did they steal the keys?
Once the insurance company confirm it's a write off, they will make you an offer, which will probably be lower than your expectations. You will then have to "fight" to get a fair offer.
...and the icing on the cake is you will have a fault claim against you for the next 3-5 years which will impact your future premiums.
Hope you get it resolved to your satisfaction without too much hassle.

Get onto Auto Trader, Pistonheads etc and find car of similar age, spec, milage etc and print all the info off. You'll need this to prove to the insurance company what your car was actually worth. I'm not going to say you'll get the prices on the ads as an offer from them but you should get more than their original offer anyway.

Get online and look for comparable condition vehicles, similar miles etc and use this as evidence to the insurer of your vehicles worth, after they make their offer it is best to send 3-4 examples of comparable vehicles to the claims file handler directly if their offer is insufficient - no use arguing just send factual information to evidence that your vehicle is worth more than their offer (assuming they do offer you less than market value) . Save this information ready to make the counter offer process faster. I work in insurance and this is the way to go. What was the proximate cause - I.e did they steal your keys? Please tell me you didn't leave them unattended or in the ignition? How did two 16 year old a get your car? Sounds like opportunists?

Little shits. As we've said, get on eBay/auto trader look for comparable vehicles to evidence your vehicles value if it comes to counter offers.

I've had a claim with More Than a few years back and it was relatively hassle free however, in that case, it was a straight forward non-fault claim when a young girl rear ended me.

Just been chatting to mate next door and that figure of £11650 is a cap figure
Its an industry book price that insurers use
So got some idea

Agree this is always the case had this happen to my friend and they got a slap on the wrist and probably carried on. However when it comes to paying out defo get some comparable prices because first offer will always be low. However you can ask for more if you justify it by showing other cars with similar spec and mileague
