RNS315 software update

Post by roccopanda »

Hello,

Spent the better part of a couple of days trying to find some info about this, but everything seems to lead to a dead end. I was wondering if there are any new features which are enabled with the latest "software version" (firmware) for the RNS315. I'm currently on 0407, have definitely seen 0410 on someone's machine, and a German forum I tried to decipher made mention of 0508. Thing is, I can't find a changelog or anything anywhere, so can't see if it's worth trying to get the latest version or not. I have a reasonably new unit so I'm sure it can take the latest version without bricking it... just seems impossible to find any info about it anywhere.

Does anyone have experience in updating the RNS315 software, and whether they might know if there's a changelog somewhere outlining the changes?

Not had much to do with the RNS315. Maps are expensive to update, and as you've found the software is all strange and unavailable. If you find anything out let me know, and I'll have a mooch about on my end as I've just got a Skoda Amundsen Plus unit (same as the RNS315) which I could play with. Mine's on 0329 and V4 maps.

Cheers.

I'll keep looking and come back with anything I find. My maps are also V4. Tbh, I don't think there's anything that can be done about the maps for the 315 - they come via an SD card which can only be used once on the first head unit it upgrades (some feature all SD cards have the option to utlise apparently). The 510 is better in that maps can be loaded via DVD if I recall correctly, but I don't have one so haven't paid it much interest.

There might be something with the software (firmware) though...
