New Rocco GTS Project Kick Off - Now with updated front end

As per my post in the newbie section, I've just bought a Rocco GTS for the wife and for me to drive to work when I'm not in my TT RS.
Got it back from the dealer on Wednesday, Thursday gave the interior a full detail, fed the leather with Megs leather feed, aerospace 303 for the plastics and AG APC for any marks.
Today it was the turn of the exterior so after a good snow foaming I set about the car with some Britemax Iron remover, then I decontaminated the paint using my new clay mit, what a purchase that turned out to be, I read about how good these were on Detailing World, the hype is all true, I clayed the whole car in just over an hour. Next it was time to seal it with Blackfire sealant before finishing off with Dodo Juice Diamond White hard paste wax.
I then pulled all the badges off the back except for the VW ones which will go when the gloss back ones turn up and fitted the wife's private plate.
I then got onto the wheels and sealed them, will leave them over night before giving them a good wax tomorrow.
Next job is to fit some new H&R 10mm hub centric spacers and a set of 35mm H&R lowering springs as the car looks like its on stilts but I didn't want to go too low as it will mess up the ride.
That's it for now but will update when I get the next bits on before I start on the audio.

Looks Lovely mate good job!
One thing though. Paint those wing mirror caps gloss black. Trust me it will look 100%better especially considering you have panoramic roof.
Also how old is the car? As that driver seat seems to have a lot of creases

Many thanks.
Totally agree on the black mirrors, I was looking for a set already painted on ebay but nothing yet.
The car is a 2013 but has 23K, I thought the drivers seat looked a little creased, must have been owned by a chunky butt before us

Stunning car mate and really don't think the red caps look to bad . I wouldn't put an R bumper on just colour code the grills .

Love what you've done, that actually looks better than the R bumper, what did you do, just pull the grill out from the bumper and then paint the surround . . .looks lovely!

Welcome to a fellow GTS owner ! Did it come already de-striped ?
As the others have said , just paint the front grilles - it really is effective
The fog grilles pop out without too much trouble once you've removed the indicators , but the centre grille is really bloody fiddly to remove with the bumper still on the car .
I took the bumper off to remove the centre grille when i did mine.
There are plenty of threads on grille / bumper removal - just do a search

Thanks Lee, yeah ours came de-striped, there's no way the misses would have driven a car with stripes down it.
The painted grill mod is the next one on the list now. Our H&R springs have just been delivered courtesy of Amazon, just waiting for the spacers and that's another job to crack on with.

Yeh if you can get hold of some then defo get them.
Re the seats. I'm not a small guy I'm on the bigger side. But mine isnt as creased as that. 2012 with nearly 20k on clock owned from new. Still looks lovely regardless. I like the red stitching.

Was busy yesterday lowering the Rocco and sticking on some new H&R spacers.
Much happier with the way the car looks now and I'm surprised to say that it rides much better than the OEM springs that were just way too stiff, even in sport mode it feels both more comfortable and compliant.
I've also pulled all the chrome badges off the back and I'm just waiting for the gloss black VW badges to arrive before I pull the nasty blingy ones off the car.
I think that even with only 10mm either side, the arches are way better filled and the with the springs, the car sits much lower and I bet it still has more to go once the suspension settles. The one thing I am shocked at is that VW chose to spec 235/35/R19 runflats for the car - they cannot do anything for the ride and a 35 profile seems really low.
Huge thanks to UK Lee for his epic lowering "How To" thread and to Pat15312 for putting all the info up reference needing two different H&R spacer kits for the front and rear - So if you're after 10mm H&R Trak+ hubcentric spacers, make sure you order 2055571B for the front axle and 2055571A for the rear axle.
Well that's it for now but should be a few more updates in the next few weeks.

Hi mate, ive got a 2013 GTS but in black and am really tempted to change to the H&R springs and spacers to suit. How does the car feel compared to stock and exactly which bits do i need? Mines petrol though, not diesel

The ride is way better than stock on our GTS but it had ridiculously hard springs from stock, I am guessing yours will be similar. You'll need different H&R springs from me as the petrol engine in yours is lighter than the diesel unit in ours, you'll need springs that support a front axel weight of up to 1020kg, we needed the ones that were for 1021kg and above.
The spacers you'll need are exactly the same ones as we have and I purposely called out the part numbers for both the front set and the rear set on my update above to help others find the correct parts, so you should be good there.
Hope this helps.

Well it's New Year's Eve and the year is almost over so I thought I'd get one last mod done before 2015 ends . . . nothing major, just replaced the chrome VW badges with gloss black ones.
Front
and back
Happy New Year all!

Yep, it's all in the tech as they say. I used to work for an IT reseller before I joined NVIDIA six years ago.

Some black gloss mirror caps for you. I have ordered a set of these but they have not arrived yet, so I can't comment on the quality.
