Has anybody else noticed the alarm is absolute crap on the scirocco?
I had my passenger side window put through Yesterday morning and the Alarm never went off. Bin miffed and wondered y i locked it with the window down leant in and the alarm still never went off until i started waving my arms about infornt of the sensors but still took some movement before it went off. I thought with the window being smashed and glass going everywhere that the alarm would have gone off.

Off chance you double pressed the lock button? Easy done, I have to remind myself alot to just press it the once haha.
I've walked past it when its auto locked and it's gone off!
Bad news about your window being put in though mate, hope it's sorted it soon

Yeah i press it twice otherwise the blinker doesnt flash. i should have put it in the garage, either someone is jealous or i have upset someone,
Do you know whether one from a 2.0TDI would be the same, i can get one from breakers for £30 instead of nearly 80 at VW.

Strange I thought the alarm was actually decent. Mine goes off really easily.
Sorry to hear about your car though.

Thats the trick, once keeps alarm on full, twice is dogs or children in car and turns sensor off inside. if you need to know its locked, find someone with vcds who can turn alarm beep on. Might sound a bit "halfords corsas etc" but its so handy.

Should the red light flash with the one click of the lock button?
Also could one of you check if the window says 43R for the colour, i can buy a window but unsure of the code. VW says there is only one colour.. so just want to clarify.

Not sure on the red flash, do the doors not lock on first press?
I'll ask al_squires for ya, he recently had his window put in too

you're correct press it once, alarm goes off as soon as i put my hand in the car, twice and the sensitivity is turned right down. does it deadlock on the single click?

Yes, deadlock in activated on single click.

This was my understanding but I'll read the manual tonight to be doubly sure:
One press = deadlock on, sensors on
Two presses = deadlock off, sensors on
Use interior door button (on A pillar) to disable sensors

It seems on Two presses the deadlock is off and the sensitivity is drastically reduced. I tried a single press and went near the window and straight away the alarm went off.

So it's not "absolute crap" after all

Manual confirms my earlier post @ 4:43.
Keyfob locking should have no effect on interior sensors.

Are you sure the alarm didn't go off? It only sounds for a few minutes in any case as it's a legislation thing, so it may have been going off but when you realised the damage it wasn't sounding. The indicators/lights (not sure which) would probably still be flashing.

I would have 100% heard the alarm. I think i heard it happen but thought it was the wind. I even put my arm through the window after without unlocking and it didnt go off. and i tried this. but when only pressed once it went off straight away as soon as i approached the vehicle with the window down. Weird.

I'm suprised as I completely stand by the one click full - two clicks part theory but if the Manual says it's not then I will have to stand by it...
