RCD 510 not remembering track position - USB

This is probably going to be some obvious setting that I just can't see for looking. Ever since I got my Scirocco, I've had the same 32GB USB drive filled with mp3 tracks (arranged in artist/album/ folders), and I just let it play though in order; when I start the car, it always just continues from where it left off. I take it out once a year or so to refresh the tracks. But all of a sudden, about a week ago, every time I start the car in the morning, it starts from the first track every time. I may be wrong, but it seems to be taking longer to detect the USB drive at switch on as well, maybe that's related. I have looked through all the settings, and I can't find one to control that behaviour. Does anyone know how to sort this? I like 50 Foot Wave, but not every single morning.

You have a USB slot? Did this come as standard?

Not a built-in slot, using an adapter plugged into the connector under the central arm rest (MMI?). I don't think it came with the car, I got an iPod adapter with the car, but I think I bought the USB adapter on advice of someone in this forum, since SD cards seemed to have some issues.

Not sure about now, but when I got my car it came with both the Ipod cable and the USB cable to connect to the MDI in the armrest.

Try a different USB stick, or format the one you're using.

Ok, I've reformatted (full) the drive and re-copied the tunes, so I guess I'll see tomorrow. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it as far as Windows was concerned, but maybe there was some issue that Windows can't detect.
