My Scirocco originally had a lead time of 18-20 weeks. I have just been informed today that it is likely to be 28 weeks - December delivery! Anyone else heard about this delay?

I wonder if that's one of the disadvantages to using internet brokers rather than dealing with the dealer direct - do dealer orders get priority over orders from the brokers?

VW say that a customer car will take 8 weeks from order to delivery and a non customer car will take 12 weeks to deliver,

I got my car from VW dealer in Glasgow, it was confirmed within 3 weeks for build and got it within 8 weeks and this included my xenon lights which I got just before they got deleted as an option.

Whist at our dealers today i was told they had received an email from VW stating they were "ramping up" Scirocco production and customers could expect 10 weeks from order to delivery.....

Interesting. I did order it through a broker but I am dealing with the dealer now. I asked them if this was particular to my model and they said that it had nothing to do with the model or the extras. They've given me four weeks to cancel it and I will get my deposit back, seeing as it isn't my fault. I can't understand why they would want to hold it up as it will just take longer to get their money, so it seems strange.

My dealer called me yesterday and advised me to expect another 6 weeks until mine is in the country so I can't understand why you are being told to wait so long, or why others have received theirs much earlier.
Might give them a call tomorrow and try find out what's happening

Hi
I ordered mine on 6th March and it was delivered 22nd May so twelve weeks in total. I believe that lead time has gone up a bit if you order now. There have been a few posts about this with some people buying now but not expecting delivery until next year. When i picked mine up the dealer said they had used up all their allocation up until August so could not even place an order until then. I think the only way to get one quicker is to take stock car tht might be in the country, these tend to be high spec but not sure what the availablity is at present. Dont know what VW are aplaying at!

No idea - I've spoken to them again and it is definitely 28 weeks still. I have four weeks in which to change my mind so I will wait a bit longer but then I might cancel it if it is still going to take that long.

I placed my order early feb and was told that the delivery would place end June. Last week I phoned my dealer to ask about whether they had already began building it. Turns out nothing had happened to my order, no confirmation what so ever. Luckily they had some news, the estimated bw was postponed till week 35!! What was my reaction?.. You guessed it.
To sum up. Today im going to have 32 week lead time to a car without pano roof, xenons or any other delaying parts.. How lucky chap am I?

Hmm...my car needs to arrive within 4 months or I lose the £2K scrappage allowance. Reading this hasn't made me feel any more relaxed about it...

A broker shouldnt really make much difference. All they do is put you in contact with the dealer and from then on you deal with the dealer. Im prepared that when I do actually get around to ordering my car its possibly to be waiting up to 20wks. Therefore anything less will be a bonus.

My order was placed on 28 May. I have been told by the dealer, today, that the car will be built in the week commencing 20 July (build week 30) and should be delivered by the middle of August/beginning of September. He did remark that "they are now building the Sciroccos pretty fast" but that it was a different story for those waiting for Golfs. I was assured that the car will be delvered within 4 months of order which was a relief after reading various threads on here as I am also purchasing via the scrappage scheme. Hopefully there won't be any unforeseen delays.

You're putting yourself through another week of not having the car - I couldn't do that knowing it would be ready to collect at the start of next week, I'd have to go and visit!

Hi
From your comments, can you confirm that you received Zenons as standard??...!! I havent chosen them due to the price but if they come as standard...

Xenons are definately not standard - £860 option.

Looks like Matt got a system grab of a car that was due to be built anyway, with Xenons already specced - possibly a cancelled order or dealer stock car with no allocated buyer. That lead time is too short to have been ordered from scratch for him.
I only had to wait 2 weeks for my Scirocco, as it had already been built.
