Scirocco value

Not sure if this is he right area of the forum for this post as my car isn't up for sale yet but is likely to be soon.

Although I will regret selling it I need to move on now after 3.5 years of ownership from brand new. I was trying to ascertain the value by doing some lengthy research but I struggled to find something of similar spec, age and mileage to compare it with.

It's a 2012, 170 GT diesel, original 19 inch black Lugano alloys with interior piano black pack, panoramic sunroof, factory tinted glass, winter pack, candy white, 68,000 miles, full VW service history and me as the one and only owner from new and in fantastic condition with only the minor things such as a few stone chips to the front and unfortunately one scuffed alloy.

Any idea on a price range although I do appreciate this can be subjective? :)

I would say circa. £13k

Cupabob's circa seems about right for a private sale, with a roughly spec'd CAP valuation giving around 12K tops, and which fits in with circa 15K prices being asked for on VW used (take away around 20% to get the trade-in price).

Thanks guys, that's really helpful.

I was hoping for somewhere nearer £20k due to the amount of wax I've put on it, lol.

Well the time has just about come, I've ordered my new car which has an 8-12 week lead in time so my Scirocco will be going around that time (unless i get an offer i cant refuse beforehand).

It now has 86,000 miles still with full VW history, any suggestions on value?

Probably about £10,750 - £11K, that is a guess though but probably reasonably accurate. What are you getting next?

Cheers Skippy.

I've ordered an S3 Sportback S-tronic, main reason for changing my car is a baby is due (hence a Sportback), however I do feel quite happy that my new dad car has just over 300BHP. :D

Good luck dstill with the S3, I am sure you will love it and all best wishes for your new arrival!

ps. I may have been slightly over optimistic with your Roc value, I looked at some others on Autotrader and some 2012 models are only in the £8K range albeit over 100K miles. I would set your sights £9.5-£10.5K.

Cheers for the kind comments Skippy.

I was hoping the panoramic sunroof would help with the resale value a little, after all its something that simply cant be added after its been built. :D

No worries buddy!

Yes - I forgot your pano roof, yes that should add a little to your resale value, but you know what its like, when you buy a new car they always tell you that the extras will help in resale value, but despite increasing the appeal, you don't get much extra back for them, probably about 20% of the original cost. Perhaps yours is worth £10K or just over, it is a desirable car so would be a shame to let it go for anything less!

I would say extras like the panoramic roof differentiate the car from others and make it easier to sell but add negligible value come resale.

Good luck with the sale and congratulations on the new addition.

Cheers Skippy and Cuprabob, thanks and i guess if its sells relatively quickly that's a bonus. To be honest though I'm in no hurry as this car isn't funding my new one so i have the luxury of time i suppose :D

Hi mate, i can certainly send you some pics but my new car doesn't get delivered until beginning of November so i'm going to have to try and balance the sale with the delivery timings best i can, not sure if this is a problem for you.
