Do they still do a 220BHP petrol Scirocco?

On Auto Car magazine and on some search engines they mention a 220 BHP 2.0 TSI engine version, but yesterday when I went to the dealer he knew nothing about it and also when I went on the VW Configurator there is no sign of it. BUT the VW website did say that the twin exhaust is only available with the 220 BHP engine!
Is there a Petrol 220BHP Scirocco available or not? I've ordered the 180 BHP version as the R was just too uneconomical but I would really have been interested in the 220BHP version which I guess would have a fuel economy somewhere in between the R and the one I've ordered.

No, but I'm sure there will be a 230PS version in the future.

I am still not clear on VW's marketing strategy in terms of this engine. I now think they are saving the 230 bhp engine for 'top end' (ie high profit) models eg Audi TT and possibly a Scirocco GTS?

They did a 210. But I think they dropped that in replacement for the 180bhp.

So is it the same engine (detuned) or a different lump? If it is the same engine then presumably it's an emission thing but then they could always get around that ...................

Sounds like they are going backwards not forwards

I've been trying to find this out myself but there's nothing really about it on the web and anyone I've asked doesn't know either. There are definitely mechanical differences otherwise a stage one map would take both engines to the same output, but the 180 only maps up to 223.
I would assume it's largely the same engine with different key components ie injectors, pistons, turbo etc. hence the big difference in price.
If anyone knows where to find a list of part numbers for each engine that would tell us.

The 220ps engine will only be available in the GTS once it's released.
