I dont know if this is the right forumsection, or if anyone already posted this, but i think i found a way to switch of my lights.
All you need to do is put the lightswitch in the position in the picture , then pull the switch towards you, and then back to the position shown in the picture, turns my lights of every time. Can anyone confirm this on their rocs? Or am i just having a faulty lightswitch?

nope, your sidelights are broken?

If I do that, my foglights come on, then when I push back in, they turn off but the sidelights remain...

Doesnt work for me either - wish it bloody would tho!

here my lights go out, and i get 2 small white lights in my indicators

Disabled my DRLs with vagcom, took all 30 seconds. Suggest you guys find someone who has one

cant find someone in Belgium, and my dealer is not willing to do it. also would like to get that annoying safety belt beep gone

I can turn that off on my car - I wear my seat belt!

What do people do about the DRL's? Do you leave it on auto, or do you put the sidelights on during the day? Do the DRL's use special 'longlife' bulbs and hence be better to keep them on rather than switching to sidelights?

Unless you have Xenons, you don't have dedicated DRLs. The normal "DRLs" for a non-xenon Scirocco and Golf 6 are your usual dipped beam. Don't think the bulbs for dipped beam are anything out of the ordinary in terms of how long they last.

I just hope it's not a dealer job to replace the bulbs. I thought european safety laws would prevent the replacement of bulbs being a specialist job. After all, a lot of European countries make it mandatory to carry spare bulbs - what is the point of this if you need a workshop to fit them if one goes pop?

So would you recommend switching to sidelights during the day to prolong bulb life?

Switching to sidelights would just make them more likely to go pop first. I suppose if there is a big difference in bulb cost or if the sidelight bulbs were easier to get at than the dipped beam ones then it may make sense to switch to sidelights.

It would be easier to just leave the lights in auto permanently though.

DRLs are supposed to be safer, people are more likely to see you behind them if you have DRLs on, but the dazzle can be pretty annoying - I was sat in front of an Audi A5 most of the way to work today, and the intensity of the LED DRLs he had really pissed me off. The rear view mirror wont dim that far in daylight because theres no discernible contrast between the DRLs and the ambient daytime light as seen by the rear-view mirror.

I had mine switched off by the dealer.
