Parts stolen from my car

Came to my car this morning thinking I wonder if it's still there? (public car park) and actually find that the badges, front grills including DRLs and rear diffuser have been nicked.

God knows who did this or what they will do with parts for a car of which there are only about 1000 in the UK.

If anyone sees these parts for sale in isolation let me know.

Car is in the e-sure approved garage now (had no choice but guess it's a simple job for them)
Called VW, all the parts including badges are nigh on £600 so it's better to pay my excess.

gutted, though could be worse I suppose!

Wow that is disgusting!
Why do people do this?
Regarding what will they do with the parts for a car when only 1000 was made.

Sell as spares I guess. Or some low life with a roc needs those parts them self.

Probably end up on eBay the thieving bellends. Sorry to hear about it mate. Out of interest do you know what the cost of your excess & making a claim will total up to come renewal time against the £600 from Vw

Well I did look on eBay but nothing there.

My excess is £250 what do you mean cost to make a claim?

Sorry to read this. There are real scum out there.

Even of you have protected NCD, it still counts as a claim and will impact your future insurance costs over the next 5 years. In likelyhood it would have been cheaper in the long term just buying the bits from TPS and fixing yourself.

3t3p I meant pretty much what Bob just said. As you're claiming your insurance will go up, your paying £250 now leaving your insurance to rise by £350 before it's the same as you stumping up the £600 & not claiming. Is it likely to go up by £350 next renewal? Who knows, probably not would be my guess.
Anyway I suppose if I was in your shoes right now I'd probably not have £600 spare so I'd no doubt have to go t be insurance route.

What you have to remember is that it's not just the next renewal. With most companies you have to declare claims for 5 years. You even get an increase if it's a non fault claim as the perceived risk increases.

This claim will be treated as a fault claim.

Unbelievable, I am so sorry, bar stewards putting it politely. A real shock for you.

My dealer was telling me a few months ago that I think it was the front bumper assembly on T5 vans were being nicked as they were easy to remove. Abosolute scum out there!

I've got house solicitor fees coming up and then this happened. I'm no millionaire.
I did think of buying the parts but sort of thought that's why insurance is there in part.
The right drl wiring loom was damaged so there's that to fix, maybe I could do it maybe not.

My renenwal was just paid before this happened and esure were by far the cheapest by a factor of two or more in many cases so even with £250 excess it works out ok.

Probably premium will go up but I not by too much I hope, fingers crossed.

Need to get out of this cursed car park! (Lots of broken glass around)

This sort of thing is on the up.

Skippy is right. The facelift T5 Sportline is being targeted a lot. We have one and have added extra fixings to the front splitter (£600 + paint and fitting) and the DRLs (£320 + paint and fitting). It won't stop some scrote nicking them but it will slow them down. Most are stolen to order apparently. People would rather pay someone a couple of hundred instead of earning things for themselves.

That's absolutely disgusting! Hope you get that sorted pal. Where about in Manchester is that? I just moved into Altrincham area and I go into Manchester quite often - think I will avoid parking at that car park...

Damn man sorry to see this happen, does make me angry seeing your car butchered by scum.

The old system of chopping the fingers off of thieves was quite effective - great deterrent and guaranteed no repeat offence!

Absolutely gutting for you mate, however I guess it could have been worse, I remember seeing photos of a MK5 GTI that looked like it had been in a breakers yard rather than a weekend at a train station car park.

Hi Guys
Just to add something. Up he seems to be the capital of breaking into Sciroccos and Nick their satnavs. Had mine done just before Christmas and have just got it back. VW quoted £1800+VAT and they put the Window through too. Be careful if you have the standard fitted 315. They also had to paint the passenger side as the glass made a mess of all the panels.

Take care .
Al

Thats why i don't use rns satnavs, too easy to steal and no detachable panel.
