Bought a 2012 1.4 TSI 160 - Some Questions

Hey there!
First post here. I bought a the car from a VW dealer (Western VW in Edinburgh) last week and I'm collecting it tomorrow. Initially I was looking for 2.0 TSI but I was intrigued by the fact that this particular car had only 9700 miles on the clock and was manufacturer approved. So I went along to have a look and a test drive and was pleasantly surprised by how it felt. The original owner had also added a bunch of extras when it was bought, pretty much everything from the GT trim apart from cruise control and the seats, which are Merlin cloth. It has Interlagos alloys as well which are my favourite on the Scirocco and the car is deep black which also suits my tastes.
Since the day I passed my test two years ago I've been driving a 1997 Peugeot 306, 1.8 GLX. It had very low mileage for its age (about 38k) when I got it and is very nippy and a lot of fun to drive. I think it would have originally had 112BHP and it has presumably lost a few over the years. I also occasionally drive my dads 1.9JTDM Alfa GT Cloverleaf which has about 150BHP and is, as you'd expect from a diesel, very torquey. The Scirocco felt pretty robust performance wise, although I only really got one chance to open it up during the test run. Very refined too.
Anyway, my questions!
I forgot to ask for the service history (although I'm supposed to receive all of that stuff when I go in tomorrow), it sort of slipped my mind as this is the first time I've bought a car, my first having been given to me by an elderly relative who couldn't drive anymore. So my first question is this. How likely is a VW approved used car to have had any major issues? The car has had only one owner and with the low mileage it looks like it was used as a sort of Sunday afternoon treat. Whilst I've never owned a new car I have test driven a few and it seemed to me like it still had the new car feel.
Secondly, one thing I'd quite like to add cosmetically is the chrome tips for the exhausts. I looked at them on the VW parts website and I think they'd compliment the look of the alloys in contrast against the black of the paint job. Can these be retrofitted and if so would I simply ask the dealer to do it?
Thanks in advance for any response!
