Hello peeps, Ive had this code come up and researched but cant find a solid answer to my question.

Do I need to replace the whole intake manifold or can I just replace the throttle body as some people say its the manifold flaps that fail while others say its the inlet flap motor?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Currently have this error too - happened the day after i had the car remapped. Has not affected the drivability in any way as far as i can see.

Have been driving for a couple of weeks with this error now , does anyone know if i could be doing any damage?

Hopefully get it sorted when i have some time off work...

Check this video out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvfVUkuPY0k. Check the flapper motor where it plugs on to the flaps in the manifold, see if that has popped out. You'll need to take the engine cover off to see it clearly. It's on the right hand side of the manifold.

I havent had time to take it apart just yet but Ive noticed an air leak on the right hand side where the flapper motor arm connects to the intake, if I put my finger over when it when started its clearly sucking in air. Has anyone else got this and could this be the cause?

Sounds like the issue I had. You can push the connector on the arm back in to the manifold and the air leak should stop. However mine kept popping back out every so often.

Took my car to an independent VW specialist yesterday. After running a couple of tests , he could not find any problems with the intake manifold or the associated parts. All appeared to be working as they should.
Knocked off the light and i took it for a drive and the light came back on within about 2 minutes of driving.

This error manifested the day after i had a stage 1 custom remap. I took it back to the guy who mapped it when i first got the CEL ( supposedly the best in the country ) and he told me it was nothing to do with the map , and that it is a common part to fail.

Now the VW specialist is saying that the CEL and the P2015 error code is being caused by the map , or so he thinks.

Is it possible that the map is to blame , and that wrongly calibrated software would throw P2015 the code? I drove about 150 miles before the light came on after the remap.

Any ideas?

It's not the map, it is a common fault and I am also suffering this issue. The only fix is a new intake manifold. When you start your car does feel as though it's idling roughly and thinks about cutting out?

Not at all....

That is the weird thing about it , the car feels like it is running as good as ever. No loss of power , no rough idle , nothing
The tech guy couldnt understand either , all the flaps were moving as they should etc..

Not sure what to do now , might bring it to a second independent to get a second opinion.
If i paid out for a new manifold and still had the error i would not be happy...

Flashing back to the stock map definitely is not an option

Mine was running all good with the fault and then I noticed this on startup, like you all my flaps are moving, sesnor is giving a reading and the arm is moving forward/back. The only way to tell if the flaps are 100% is to take it off and check.

Well , Got a second opinion from another VW specialist. All the main parts of the manifold are working correctly.
Something internal in the manifold is causing a wrong reading in the sensor which is throwing the light.

Quote to fix is about €600 which is a full replacement of the manifold, with the bulk of the cost being the part @ €355

They advised me that the car will drive fine , but the light will stay on . Thinking of just living with it for a while.

Each flap has a plastic stopper which wears and then snaps this allowing the flaps to have too much movement. I would get it fixed as you don't want plastic bits going into your engine. Order the part off eBay and it will.be a third of the price.

i have been looking around online , but have had no luck finding it cheaper. Does anyone know the actual part number i should be looking for?

Lived with mine for nearly a year. Fault code there but no EML light until recently and then nearly every trip. Got mine fixed for £450 by a good indie. No discount on the part though!!

Ordered the part today from here. Cost about 250euro with shipping + 4 injector seals , so still 100euro cheaper.
However i will probably get hit with customs charges so it could very well end up costing the same as quoted from VW...

Oh well , at least the fix is under way....

Just had my intake manifold replaced yesterday by VW. Luckily have extended warranty. Is this quite a common issue?
