Tow bars

Hi, I'm fairly new to the forum and noticed that I haven't seen any Scirocco's with a tow bar. I've got a small camping type trailer I would like to use it and wondered if it's possible to fit a bar?
Thanks for any help.
Pete.

I may be wrong but I don't think the Scirocco is homologation to tow anything. I don't remember ever seeing a max towing weight quoted anywhere.

Doesn't mean a tow bar can't be fitted but may cause insurance and legal woes in the case of an accident.

Yes - that thread says it all, Scirocco cant be adapted for towing for technical reasons.

My day job is vehicle and component Homologation, the rocco is not type approved to tow so fitting a bar is very dodgy ground. I have know people who have vehicles where normal versions can tow but the hot sport one can't however as the chassis is the same the Towbar for the normal cars will fit.. So some folks have fitted them in order to use Towbar mounted cycle racks.

Potentially this would be OK provide the Towbar was not Homologated and clearly stated it was for a cycle rack only (I know one company who make such a bar for certain vehicle like Toyota prius etc), but it still need clearing with your insurance company, plus if you was caught on the road with a trailer attached then expect some bother..and even if you wasn't towing I would expect any vehicle warranty to be out of the window.
