Okay i need help.....

I bought my roco from a dealership and had mnay problems....

these all got fixed till the engine broke totally! :grumpy:

They have replaced the engine and dvla need to know the new details of the engine for their records but this is my problem....

The garage who fixed it says the engine number was removed as it is company policy??

Sounds dodgey to me and wondered what to say or do really?
Is this right?

Cheers People

Engine could have come from stolen/recovered registered breaker where the ID number has been removed.
Should have documentation to back this up from the breaker, i think..
Not sure if the DVLA like you re-stamping the number that's why you're given the paperwork

Does sound fishy and if it was me, not too happy :grumpy:

Yes - this does not sound right at all. I had a new engine fitted to our Polo (by VW), the engine number on the new unit was electronically linked to the old one, so for DVLA records, nothing changed. They did not say anything about the number being removed for company policy reasons.

I had the engine replaced on my MK5 R32 by VW and I never bothered telling DVLA. As far as I'm aware there is no legal requirement to tell DVLA and no one ever checks engine numbers these days.
