I have never used the AUX in, so not sure why it's developed a fault, I havent tampered with the wiring either!! When I installed my dashcam, I took the wiring through the headliner trim.

Does anyone know where the AUX wiring runs through and is it possible I disconnected something during my cam installation?

Surely it runs straight under the centre consol and up??

That's exactly what I thought philjay, only logical route in my mind. So I am not sure why I have a "open circuit" at all.

Maybe if I have time, I will take out the RNS and check out the wires, but I will definitely be leaving it for now.

Sorry I can't help with regards to your original post but I was wondering if I could pick your brain with regards to your following quote:

Basically I'm looking at buying the following front and rear dashcam and powering the main head unit via the cigarette lighter port in the boot.

This would require me to feed the cabling from the front facing camera through the headliner to the back of the car and I'm unsure and nervous
about how to do this without making a mistake or setting off the pillar airbags!

I've search the web and scirocco forums for instructions on how to do this but I've come up blank.
Any chance you could advise or send some links? Also can I ask where you fed your dashcam cable to exactly?
Was it the fusebox or cigarette lighter in the console?

No, I havent sorted out the Aux in error, I find it confusing and havent worked it out in my head.. Perhaps when I get time in the next few months (I dont use the Aux in anyway).

For the installation, you dont need to upset the pillar airbags! I did it without removing the A pillar.
Right, what I did is - from the front camera, I tucked the cable between the windshield and the headliner trim. I did this by prying the headliner away from the windshield slightly, and tucking the cable in the little gap. I did this all along till I got to the A pillar. I then pried the A pillar slightly and fed the cable past this towards the driver side.
From the driver side, it is easy to separate the headlining from the seal, and tuck the cable all the way through to the back.

I know this is difficult to visualise, but I wrote a guide about installing bluetooth, and you could use this roughly to see how you could possibly route the cable.

This will give you a guide on routing the cables from the front. I've got to say, I did things differently from this though... Like I didnt need to remove the map lighting, but removing the vanity light helped me to route the Front - rear dashcam cable easily.

For the power, I used the cigarette lighter in the boot - it's so so convenient!!! for a shorter solution, you could easily route the cable to your fusebox (like I did in the bluetooth guide), and hardwire it into that.
