Morning all

has anyone gone for the VW autoglym care option when buying a new Roc? mine has arrived at the dealer and I have the option to go for the inside/outside Autoglym option for a reduced price of £395 before I collect it.

has anyone had it done and was it worth it? even at £395 it seems quite expensive for what I can essentially see as a can of scotch guard and a decent polish.

Waste of money!
Don't even think about buying it.
That same kit that the dealers use can be bought on ebay for like £20-30 . They then charge £360 for someone to apply it . It's not worth the money.

Either buy your own cleaning equipment for that money or get it professionally detailed .

He's right though as usual ! Get a decent coat of polish then wax on then head down the pub with the money you've saved !

As mentioned above, by doing yourself or by getting a pro to do it you would save loads! Autoglym kits don't cost much, alternatively other kits are available (sounding like I work for the BBC)

The AutoGlym kit itself isn't a bad kit. The problem is that dealers charge a fortune for it and it's usually poorly applied.

If you want it buy the kit and apply it yourself. You'll do at least as good a job as the dealer would have and you'll save over £350!

I would be interested to know what it is they put on it because it's not one of the products in the kit. When I had a Caddy van they did the 3year coating for free after a bad experience to get me to buy again. The coating had to be left 24hrs before I collected and I was told I only needed to wash the paintwork and not polish it if I didn't want to.

I never found out if it really made a difference long term due to some idiot driving into the side and writing it off. It did come with a full cleaning kit but none of the products stated the same results. Basically polish, wax, shampoo etc.

I didn't bother on my new car because I wanted the seats but I'd be interested to hear from someone who did get it.

Just a sealant - can be bought through various companies, and even if it doesn't quite get the same finish in your opinion, is it really worth 395?! haha

Dodo Juice stuff is great, also I bet that whole lot probably cost you less than VW were going to charge you for a one time deal!

You are right Dave, considerably less including the pressure washer.

Well, just finished up and I'm really happy with the outcome. This was its first clean since I drove it out of the showroom and it had quite a bit of surface dust and look quite dull.

Started off by hosing the car down to get it wet, then applied a nice thick coating of Apple foam which I let dwell for 10 mins. I then pressure washered off the foam then started on the wash, using born to be mild and microfibre covered sponge. After the wash I applied some ferrous dueller to the wheels and let that dwell for 5 mins.

Pressure washered the whole car again removing all the suds the dried the whole car using a big dodo juice orange drying towel.

Had a smoke break, the set about applying the purple haze wax, panel by panel then buffing it off. It was a race against time before the sun came round the side of the house, but I just beat it.

Cleaned the glass and then stood back to admire my handywork

About 2.5 hours in total.

Bet it looks great! much better option than the auto glym kit.
