Bluetooth quiet suddenly

Post by Falsey »

I was driving at the weekend and the volume on the bluetooth audio just dropped out of nowhere. I now have to turn the volume dial to max to get it anything close to how it previously was at like 2/3rds. And its still quieter than it was.

If you switch to radio is deafeningly loud. My phone has bluetooth output on max volume.

Check the setting in the head unit, there's different sound levels for Bluetooth, mdi etc

Are you using iPhone? Mine does this when location services are running in the background.

Xperia Z1.

Had a look in the menus, nothing for bluetooth volume, which is weird.

I may be wrong but I think the source volume for Bluetooth is controlled by adjusting the output volume of the phone, which is done using the normal volume control. Once you set a base volume you can then adjust the volume on the headunit.

In your case, increase the volume on the phone and reduce the volume on the headunit

Volume is max on the phone and have to turn it to max on the headunit to get any decent sound out of it.

My Z1 does something similar when using Deezer. It will go quiet for a fraction of a second then resume at normal volume. I think it's an issue with the way Sony have mangled the bluetooth drivers to include PS3 controller support.

I'm waiting for the Lollipop update to be released by EE to see if this finally fixes it as each software release seems to have made a small improvement.
