Some crazy stone or something hit my wing mirror and popped the whole mirror out, which happily seems to have been ok with me snapping it back in to place. On the back though, the clear plastic strip which covers the indicator repeater is damaged. See image below if I have got the description a little vague.
Is this something an idiot (i.e. me) can easily replace? Anyone know the part number and a rough guide if it is? Otherwise everything is working ok (mirror control and indicator itself).
Yes - those are a bit vulnerable, I managed to crack the indicator lens myself when the mirror clouted another vehicle down a narrow street.
I think it is fairly simple to replace, but I took the easy option and got the dealer to do it. The part is about £22 but you can reckon on the dealer charging £50 to supply/fit.
There may be something on the forum explaining how to replace this.
Thanks Skippy. My fixing skills are probably on par with my forum searching skills. There is at least one step there I am likely to screw up so I will probably go dealer too.

No worried Deft, yes - I think it is one of those that can be called 'fiddly', there is always the potential to make things worse, I am not very confident about taking these things on either.

The only part you can really screw up is breaking the tell-tale, it doesn't matter when taking everything apart as you'll be getting a new one with the new lower housing. When putting everything back together just make sure you clip the outer end first and use the minimum pressure required to get all the clips to latch.
For thread completion's sake I got this done by my local dealer for the bargain basement price of £78.44 - so I could have had around 3 attempts myself I suppose!
hi, i know this is an old post. but this morning on my way to work i was driving down a narrow road and someone decided the best way to approach a car come at you is put the foot down. she ended up clipping my mirror and just cracked the led lens on the right wing mirror. all electrics still work in the mirror even though the glass was displaced.
