I'm reading a lot about VW using 'hard paint' when coating their vehicles.

Would this have an effect when trying to remove scratches? I'm guessing that by the name alone its going to take a lot more effort to blend and remove scratches.

I'm also finding the scratches remove easier on the plastic bumpers as opposed to the metal body work.

I'm in the middle of going over my car panel by panel with a DA polisher. It's all about the type of polish and pads you use, but also a DA won't do much scratch removal, a rotary polisher will be required for good results. I've managed to get out all the swirls from mine but there are still a few small scratches that are visible and haven't gone down much at all. I'm sure with a bit more effort I could do a better job but they will never be removed.

Make sure you use more abrasive polishes and pads with a harder 'cut'. If you're doing it by hand then good luck! Polishes with fillers may help if they're not too deep. SRP is great.

I take my hat off to you guys as I would be too scared to use a polisher and would just take it to a valet company.

Unfortunately i don't have a polisher as i live in a flat so have no electricity feed to the car park so its all done by hand.

Its a slow process but rewarding when you see the marks starting to fade.
