Looking into buying a scirocco

Post by Jhazzy21 »

Hi I'm looking for my 2nd car that I will keep for a while (4years +) I've got around £11k. I'm just after some advise as to what engine to go for and any pros or cons of them. I'm looking for something under 50,000 miles and 59/10 if possible.

Hi mate I'd definately say for that budget you can have your pick of engine. If it's a weekend or second car petrol is the way to go, the 2.0 TSI is a great engine, well tunable and really quite good on fuel! :)

feul cost isn't really a big issue as I only work half a mile away from home so that's okay I'm going to view one over the weekend looking at White or rising blue. Would you have manual or dsg ?

Go DSG every time. Great gear-box with paddle change if you want to DIY. But test drive one of each. see which suits you best. Hope you find a good 'un.

I'd go DSG also. But I have a manual as the car was just the right one so wasn't a game changer for me.

Around the 09/10 mark make sure you cast an eye over the stereo - you want one with a little star button top right and the white display on the MFD in the dashboard. Those are the later better versions that came in around then - I got lucky with one but not the other on a late 59.

I think they went to 210bhp sometime in 10?
don't be fooled by the 'roc that i've got

I've got DSG in my 2.0 TDI and I love it. Highly recommend it, its worth noting though that a DSG should have had its gearbox oil and filter changed at 40k at the latest, if you're looking at 50k and it hasn't been done walk away.

Bought one yesterday picking it up next week 10 plate 40,000 rising blue full vw service history up until the last service for £12,000 not a bad price I don't think, it has an aftermarket radio which looks standard if you know what a mean, has satnav so that's a bonus and there also giving me the original stereo.
