Buying a Scirocco this weekend (second hand) Advice please

Hey guys.

I've put a deposit down on a Scirocco and I'm going to view/pick it up etc this weekend. It's a 2.0 TSI DSG 2010 (60 plate). 37k miles.

What kind of questions should I be asking when I pick it up and what sort of things should I be looking for?

Also, i've read a lot about this '40k mile' service. At 37k miles i'm guessing this is something I'd need to do soonish or is there a chance it's been done already etc?

Thanks in advance!

You.need to look at the service.history and see when the last service.was carried out and what was done. At 40k miles the DSG oil & filter has to be changed. Cost is around £180 at a dealer.

You also want to know what servoce regime the car has been on;
Time & Distance - service every 9,300 miles / 12 months
Longlife - variable intervals up to a maximum of 18,600 miles./ 24 months.

You also wanr to check the rear tyres for tread stepping / sawtooth wear pattern which causes rumbling / droning. Sounds like a wheel bearing on the way out.

Have a read of this: http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =2&t=18676" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it is for a new car, but some of it will apply to you.
Try and make sure everything works, when I viewed mine the electric lumbar support wasn't working on both seats and they sorted that. Have a good look at the fit of all the interior trim, if it's had any work done check its been put back together properly. I had a couple of niggles with mine, but luckily the guides on here helped me to sort it quite easily.
If there's 2 keys, there should be! Make sure they both work.

Prepare your face for the massive grin you'll have on it on the way home!! Enjoy...

Couple of weak spots can be suspension creaks and dry boots. Also tailgate stop rattles. Have a look at the evo thread for other common issues: http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... 10&t=13001" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
