Hi guys,

I’m currently still looking for a 2.0 litre petrol Scirocco at the low end of the used Scirocco price scale, but have seen some 2010 models within my budget of about £12,500 max. Few cars which match my spec come up frequently within 250 miles but I am going to see a 2009 model this afternoon because it has everything I want and lower miles than some of the 2010 models in the price bracket. I have no problem owning a 2008/2009 model but really the one thing that puts me off is the steering wheel looking so dated in pre-59 plate models. By the looks of things replacing the steering wheel is quite a job and beyond me, so I am just wondering whether anyone has any experience in modernising the interior (the wheel in particular). I plan to put a GT badge on the steering wheel if I buy a 2009 model, but was wondering if any other modifications to the visual appeal are possible. May be a stupid question, but thanks for your time!

Simon

I've been looking at the same thing. It looks like it can be done but as you said, not easy (therefore cheap) so I'm waiting for the right car. Not just the steering wheel either, the dials and mfd feel dated to me too.

I'd say patience until you find one in your budget with what your after.

I recently bought a set of leather seats of my roc on an unexpected (and drunken) ebay bid. Easy enough to fit, if not a little time consuming, but all i could think was it didn't feel right. I'm sure if i purchased the car with leather i would have found them perfect, so i sold them and have decided that if i want a car with leather, next time ill buy it with!

Hope this helps
