Car wont tickover

Post by stunterant »

Having more problems with the rocco unfortunately,

Last 3 months i have done timing chain tensioners throttle body and MAF sensor. Before that 12 months ago intake manifold and 4 coil packs.

Now when i start the car it struggles to start and once it starts it chuggs like its not running on all 4 cylinders if i rev it and back off the revs dont settle and she revs up on her own without any throttle input. i have an intermittent epc light and a message engine fault workshop.

Anybody had anything similar getting to the point where the car is breaking down every other week now. Typically its done this on a Saturday night sets me up for a difficult trip to work without a car :grumpy:

A scan with VCDS is your first port of call as it could be any number of things, from a faulty sensor, vacuum leak or fuel pressure to name just a few.

Thanks bob, luckily my dad has a snap on solus diagnostic computer so get it plugged in asap trying to get a head start.

Im sad to say the love affair is over new astra vxr maybe the replacement cant keep throwing money at the rocco. Take the depreciation hit and move on

Sounds just like the lose throttle body wiring harness issue. Its a known problem with the 2.0 tsi engine... think there was a recall on this part. If it happens again turn the engine off and try push the wire in properly and start up again. See if it makes a difference. Have a look here for some info on it http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.p ... -2-2-0-TSI" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well i had the car ticking over running normal as these 2.0tsi's ever do and touched that plug and the engine note did change.

Fault code reader threw up an error p0121 the repair looks abit diy for a vag tsb. Might look at soldering a plug on appreciate the help desperate to get the rocco reliable or its off to the darkside VXR

Exact same problem with my 58plate 2.0tsi. Had the throttle body wiring replaced at around 50k miles, now on 60k and had no problems at all :yes:

Sounds like we might have craked it waiting for its next episode and i will give the loom a wobble see what happens. Im lucky dad has a performance car business http://www.monzaautomotive.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; i will get him on the case of modding the loom.

Then its time for a re map and lowering springs and fall in love with her again lol
