The Best Era for music!

Well I already got the best films thread under way so I thought I'd start a cool little thread on music!

Basicly the idea is to choose an Era you like most and give some reasons why you like it, maybe name a few bands etc :)

I personally love the 70's, my reasoning is it was the era of true rock music, and I guess most of the top bands of today will have been influenced by one or two of the bands from this period in music. It was the Era of Ziggy Stardust, Lynrd Skynrd and Ozzy was biting the heads off bats! Rock on or should that be Roc on as '74 was the year the Mk 1 Scirocco was born!!!! :D

well i am born in the 90's so i cant say i know much about the 80's/70's/60's/..... But for me it would come down to 90's/present day.
90's for the sweet and slick sounds/beats and best rap albums/singers aka 2pac, B.I.G., Bone Thugs n harmony, Cypress Hill and the list goes on. But i chose present day music cause i am an underground house/electro house/chillout house freak. In this category there are so many dj's but at the top of my head i would pick deadmau5, booka shade  , trentemoller  , and elle allien  . We also have the rap of today which is good (not like the 90's tho). Artists like lil wayne, snoop, lil boosie, plies, 112, rick ross.... Now i do like to listen to some rock (not hard/heavy/death metal lol) like kid rock or red hot chilli peppers, also some (but very rarely) POD or system of a down. I also beleive that everyone needs to have some jazz and classical music in there collection. BTW first track ill play once i get my rocco would be "In White Rooms" by Booka Shade or "Grippen Grain" by Rick Ross, or last choice "Check My Swagg" by Lil Wayne........ (intresting topic CTRnutter )

I went with the 70s as well, despite not actually being born then. Reasoning being basically the same as CTR really. Additions to CTRs list that I'd make would be ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd (not big on their 60s psychedelic stuff though). Can't be a bit of early Disco either when you're feeling cheesy!

I know little to nothing of 40s music, and generally find most 50s and 60s stuff to be a bit too soft or just too off the wall later in the 60s. I appreaciate what the Beatles, Elvis and co did for modern music, but I've never really been a big fan of their stuff.

A lot of 80s music tends to put a smile on my face, but I don't tend to listen to it much.

The 90s I tend to associate very heavily with the rise of boybands, which I've never really been a fan of, but there were definitely a few rays of light e.g. The Prodigy, Nirvana etc...

Present day music is what I tend to listen to most now, just because there is always new stuff coming out. The majority is still a load of crap, but there is enough of it that you can always something that floats your boat :)

I listen to anything good.
Old, new, I don't mind.

The 80s was tops though. Cheesy catchy pop, bit of left over 70s rock and the start of a bit of 90s techno. Love it :)

depends on the kind of music...

power ballads - 80s
dance - early 90s
rap - mid 90s
hip hop - early 90s
rock - 70s
metal - 80s

engines - tough one...

80's was soulless sixties and the seventies produced real music like the stones. queen led zep, the who , david bowie, jimi hendrix, the beatles, ac/dc, black sabbath, sorry but these were the best
