permanent live cigarette socket

Can anyone help?
I have a solar panel car battery maintainer that plugs into your cigarette lighter socket. The problem is, the lighter socket is not a permanent live and only switches on with your ignition, this would make the solar panel useless
Does anybody know how to make your cigarette lighter socket a permanent live? I read somewhere in the past that you may be able to move the fuse associated with the socket over a notch to achieve this option.
My car is a 2009 scirocco 2.0 TSI (old type steering wheel)

I have seen it on a GOLF 7, but this is not the same fuse box as a Scirocco

Use this page to find where your ciggy lighter is fed from
http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... =25&t=7403" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it depends on the age and model. Looks like SC42 in the dash fuse box assuming your's is post 2010.
All the fuses in this area appear to be ignition controlled. So you need to find which end is the feed to SC42 (take the fuse out and see which end is +12V with the ignition on). The other end is then the supply to the ciggy lighter. Undo this wire and move it an unused fuse which is permanently live. You will need to go hunting with a multi meter to find this.
Forget how you move the wires, think you undo the fuse box then turn it over and there's a catch on the side that releases a locking bar for all the fuses. Go careful as if all the wires come out it could all end up a bit messy.
Needless to say messing with the electrics is prone to end in tears so if you're not confident in your abilities find a mate who knows what he's doing. And if your car goes up in flames I'm not responsible. Well OK I'm just not responsible in general.

Hi Sciroccorich
I'm glad I found your post as I'm in exactly the same situations as you.
Did you manage to find an answer to your problem about making the boot cigarette lighter socket permanently live?
Thanks
Darren
