As I understand things the cigarette lighter is always live and when the ignition is off there is something like 8 volts at the unit. Can this be changed to completely off the reason being I want to use a dash camera

if you plug your dashcam on permanent alimentation, your dashcam will turn full time
This will make a 32Gb SD card will erase every 8 hours at 1080p
