key won't work

Post by AndyK »

Basically. I have a 2010 scirocco, white instrument cluster, and have 3 keys. Have been using the newly cut key (Bentley style key) for the past few months. Dad tried to move my car using one of the spare keys and the car said "No key" engine started then immobiliser cuts engine out. Have gotten home. Tried all 3 keys and none of them are detected. Car locks and unlocks with all 3, all fit into the key hole and turn ignition on but none of them are recognised. Any suggestions?

When I bought my car, vw sent me a replacement key which I had to take to a dealer to be coded. Just a thought but the key your dad used may have not been coded/fully coded. So the immobiliser thinks that someone is trying to steal the car and has locked all keys out to prevent theft!!
If no answer on here you may have to try vw, they will need the car and keys though for coding. Good luck buddy.

Cheers bro. Yeah I spoke to a locksmith earlier and he said the same thing. Disconnected battery to reset system, but still didn't work. Now my widow is slightly open (opened.car 3 times and the window went down 3 times) but the windows won't go back up. With the button when ignition is on, or remote so it's gone from bad to worse

I think you'll have to go to vw. Had the same issue with my car had a spare key and I dropped my main key in the boot and shut it! They had to re-program both keys which I think was about £50 all together[emoji26]

Problem solved last night, had a locksmith come round and tried using super vag and other key programming devices. Access denied on all of them. The car had gone into "safe mode" and wouldn't accept any valid keys. In the end, the last resort was to leave ignition on with the valid key I had been using for 30 mins. Turn off ignition and take key out. Then started the car and amazingly it worked. This took the car out of safe mode so it could accept valid keys.

Sorry to drag this back up... Had a similar issue with my scirocco; I didsconnected the battery and when I reconnected it the Immobilizer seems to be kicking in when trying to start with both keys. Tried using VCDs and it won't let me access any module. Did you have to do anything particular before / after leaving the key in i.e. Disconnect the battery for 10 mins or leave the doors shut or anything? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Use a valid key, turn ignition on and leave it on for 30 mins. Time it
Turn headlights off (sidelights on) and radio off, after 30 mins turn ignition off, take key out. Then the car should start

Yeah times it and left it exactly 31 minutes just to be sure... Tried with both keys, tried with aide lights on and off; disconnected batter for 30 minutes then tried that procedure and still no joy. I thinks it's a different issue as my fault didn't occur in the same ways as your but thanks again for the help
