Scirocco dreaded buzzing noise. Please help

Post by Garry0587 »

Hi all, my first post here so take it easy on me and apologies if this has been covered before or is in wrong section. I have been crawling the Internet and watching videos online for weeks now trying to trace this problem with numerous people seem to have the same issue but nobody with a definite answer or fix.

The problem is an intermittent buzzing noise which happens only in the lower 1-3 gears usually, at exactly 1900-2000rpm but VERY annoyingly picks and chooses its time to happen as I've had it back to VW in Jordanhill in glasgow twice now and they have been unable to trace it which is highly frustrating.

For the record I hoped it was the simple Wastegate actuator clip as this has been fitted. Unfortunately not and problem is still here. This is not my video but is the exact same noise in exact same rpm range. Many thanks for any help.

Car is a 2010 2.0 TSI GT.

It doesn't sound like the Wastegate rattle. Sounds more artificial on that video...
Could it be something wrong with the soundaktor?

I've recently just stated to hear more and more about this soundaktor feature. I have read some people have them and others do not so I'm not even sure if mines has but think its Definetly worth a look. Are there any guides that you know of about how to disconnect this? Thanks for the reply.

Have a search for it on the forum I think there is one.
Its under the rain tray in the middle somewhere.
As I had a look to see if mine had one. But my car was build on the threshold the next year had one. Mine is a 59 plate so yours should have one!
Edit: TSi 210PS Wk45/09 onwards have them
Get rid if you do have one the car sounds perfect without it :)

Thanks for the info, I'll definitely have a look at that. Here's hoping it solves this once and for all!

Try wedging a bit of foam between the bonnet stay rod and the engine surround - not saying that my rattle sounded the same as the Youtube clip, but it is a simple and quick elimination of a possible reason.

Thank god i found this post, buzzing was annoying and i thought it was some interior trim, but low and behold its the bonet stay... put some gaffer around it to make it fit snug and not rattle around and its buzzing gone :)
