paired phones - deletion

Hi Guys - friday afternoon and time to pick the collective SC brain !
Today i had a second hand bluetooth unit fitted to Walter (my roc) - everything is fine and showing up on the display - BUT
i cannot connect or pair either my iPhone or my work Galaxy 4S

Within the menu are three already paired devices (one of the pre set phones is an iPhone. I cannot find any method of deleting them, nor will it let me pair a new device.
Within media player there is an option to delete devices but when i try it says the device is also used as a phone
I have tried renaming iPhone without success - it won't let me do anything to the already paired devices
I have tried factory reset - without success. On the RCD screen the option to restore factory settings goes into a loop "restore factory settings, Restore or Cancel ?" when i try restore it says factory settings not restored and returns to the "restore or cancel" window - with camel being the only option that takes you anywhere.

I have contacted the seller (Ebay) and await a response, further I've booked into the local VW dealership to get it looked at under warranty (Walter is just under three years old and he didn't come from the local dealer so i'm playing dumb and so far it seems they're going for it) but I can't get it looked at until i get back from holiday on the 25th.
One of you geniuses must have an answer here - I have scoured the forum and the net in general but cannot find any answer

Your help as ever is very much appreciated :)

You can definitely delete the profile of the phone through the phone menu within the MFD as I've done it a couple of times when changing phones. If no one answers sooner, I'll have a look next time I'm in the car.

Bobs right, it has to be done using steering wheels controls and through the mfd, not the head unit itself

thanks boys I knew I could count on you
the only options i have available to me on the mfd are as follows
1. Connect sub menus i Looking (lasts approx 1 minute then reverts to MFD display) ii Cancel
2. Phone search sub menus i Looking ii cancel
3. Media Player sub menus i Active, ii Paired (LG Nokia iPhone - pre paired devices) iii search, searching (nothing comes up here) iv Rename (allows selection of one letter but doesn't save) v Delete (when you select the device to delete its states cannot be deleted as also used as phone) vi Back

can take pics if this helps ?

I'm sure I have a Bluetooth and / or Settings Menu on top of what you have listed. I'll check when I'm next in the car as I can't remenber as I don't.go through the phone menus that much.

Although it's a MK5 R32 with a red MFD, this link may help

http://www.r32oc.com/tutorials/article/ ... d-devices/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was right about the Bluetooth menu and you.need to have a phone connected / paired to delete the other paired devices. Thst's why you won't be seeing the Bluetooth option in the menu.

Bob you are as ever awesome thanks for taking the trouble hombre

However as I got the BT unit second hand off ebay & none of the previously paired phones are available.

I read a forum post on a TDI user forum that said that the unit will only accept 3 (4 if newer) phones before disabling the setup function?
Is there any other way of deleting previously paired phones when they are (clearly as its second hand) not available
If not the unit is about as much use as Anne Franks' Drum Kit and will need to be returned toot suite - grrrr

You might have bought an rSAP bluetooth unit. It won't pair with an iPhone. Put the part number of the bluetooth unit here and someone will be able to tell you what it is.

I wasn't aware of the limitation on numbers of paired devices you can have. I assume you've done a Bluetooth scan and tried to.connect your phone? A long shot but you could try renaming your phone ID to the same name as one of tbe paired devices and see if it will connect / pair.
