Footwell lights

Hi,
I received my new used scirocco on Friday from Volkswagen Huddersfield and am more than pleased with it. A very small but niggling disappointment is that the foot well lights are missing! I'm guessing the previous owner got fed up with them being on all the time and decided to remove them. So I have two questions, one is it worth asking VW to send replacements and will they do this without paying for them, as they were missing from the car? Second are they worth the hassle getting replaced because I'd quite like them for getting into the car at night and for some ambient light but I have noticed some people get annoyed by them being on all the time (apparently this included the previous owner) so is it not advisable to get them?
Cheers

If it has ambient lighting it is usually turned on/off in the MFD.
Personally, I can understand why the previous owner might have turned them off. They are very distracting I find.

i love the footwell lights, personally. has the user not just turned them to 0% in the mfd or actually removed them? if so here's the install guide, and if you need to buy the units they're about £10 from vw. i got a few sets for different bulb/led setups, easier to swap the units than the bulbs:

Thanks for your help. I read somewhere that if you untick the footwell light box in the MFD they only come on when you open the door and go off when you start the ignition, is this correct? Would mean that if I get annoyed with them being on constantly I can still use them for the assistance of getting in at night.
The only ones I could fine on shop4volkswagen were these:

Are they therefore generic for all volkswagen cars?
Also had a look at the LED option, do they dim correctly according to the MFD setting? What do you think to these:

Thanks

looks like the ebay ones should be fine but don't quote me on it.
i phone the vw site - service man there is great, just explain what you need and he'll know.
leds do fit in the standard vw units - people say they need to be the canbus type. here's a full led interior bulb list i use (footwells at bottom) use install guide above for fitting, trim tools are a good idea:
These for the domes (near sunglasses case, next to rear view mirror:)
http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/501-w5w-2- ... lbs-white/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This for the light in the boot:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And three of these (one for each vanity mirror, one for rear right passenger headliner):
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
my drls:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
my reg plates:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
though you can use these too (or the drl led above):
my footwells:
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
all ship from the uk so it's days not weeks.

So I went with the ones on ebay...wish I hadn't... They arrived but come with a converter cable thing (you can see it in the picture for the product on the ebay listing) but it doesn't seem to connect to the car cable >_< Looks like the two metal prongs coming out of the converter cable are too wide. Should have just gone with the VW ones from that website you linked!!! Hopefully the seller will sort it out, otherwise I'll just have to return them and get the standard ones.
