All, new to the forum and a newish Scirocco owner.
Had a problem today with my ignition failing to release my key when in park (automatic). Tried all the usual tricks (rocking the the steering column, push in etc). Only released when I applied brute force, slightly bending the key in the process.
Is this a common problem, is there an easy cure, WD40 in barrel etc.?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jamie

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
It's not common but I have heard of this happening a few times and the culprit was the gear selector not recognising it was in Park and as such the interlock not releasing the key. It might just be an alignment issue but best to get it checked out as brute force will only cauae more damage and expense.

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
I learnt that the hard way (and silly me) not knowing this is a common point with auto tranmission cars. I used manual gear stick all my life and when parked my car, leaving the gear in N on the Rocco, was unable to pull the key out.
I reckon it must be sensor that detects and releases the key lock in the barrel. Best to get it checked and rectified.

Cheers for the assistance. I have booked it in to be on the safe side. Don't want to cause any further damage.
Many thanks again
