122PS BSR Remap?

Hi everyone!

After dreaming about the Scirocco ever since it was launched I've finally got mine last week. Unfortunately even after selling my kidneys I still had to
get one second hand and with the 1.4TSI 122PS. Moving from an Audi A4 with the 1.8T (163 bhp) workhorse, I must admit the gap in power was bigger then I expected.

I've looked around for possibilities for getting some more bark out of the engine and found that the Swedish tuning company BSR offers a remap even for the 122PS version. Their figures claim a respectable 150 bhp which I have no doubt they can deliver, however I am a bit skeptical about the wear and tear on the drive-train and the engine itself. As far as I know the 122PS is more or less the same engine as the twincharged 160PS version, but with a smaller intercooler. I am however uncertain if the gearbox, clutch and diff is the same. And more importantly, can handle the extra torque.

Hoping to hear from someone who has remapped their Roc and what experiences they've made.

I bought a bluefin handset for mine as the 122 bhp is just not powerful enough. HOWEVER, after the bluefin remap its a different car. Goes a lot harder in every gear and really has transformed the car. I would recommend bluefin personally as the ease of taking the map on and off its brilliant. Regarding the drivetrain, clutch, gearbox and all that they will certainly be able to handle the added torque and hp. The intercooler can cool up to around 160 bhp anything above this and you'll need a front mounted cooler too. PS if you did ever want to mount a new intercooler the Peugeot 207 1.6 turbo is a perfect fit.

But personally I would just get a bluefin on it. it really is good. trust me!

Thanks a lot for your reply. Good to hear that you're satisfied, in such a small a car I believe you can really feel the difference of the upgrade. I looked at bluefin and they seem like a solid supplier, I am though a bit surprised at their low prices. BSR takes ~700 GBP here (Norway), but then again, with import taxes and shipping it will probably end up roughly the same.

Thanks for the tip about the intercooler, it's definitely on my list of planned upgrades (though, after BT, turbo-back exhaust and loads of other things ... :) )

Yeah the only reason I wont be bothering fitting new intercooler, turbo-back exhaust, etc. is purely due to the costs. I mean if I were to get all them things you would be looking at around £1500 and if I were to spend that on getting the car more power I would have just bought the 160bhp twincharged! Good luck though mate!
