Hello,

I am fairly new to the Scirocco club. I have a 07/2009 Scirocco with a 1.4 TSI 160 hp engine. I was wondering if the sound of my engine is normal. Please check it out here: https://soundcloud.com/the-cos-min/16-j ... tsi-160-hp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thank you!

I must admit I don't have the 160hp, however, my 122hp is A LOT quieter than that. So something doesn't seem right....

That could be the register chain thats too loose.
You should check it out!

Had the same sound in my engine, and unfortunatly i let it go to far :no:
had to rebuild the whole register, and were quite lucky that no valves were damaged

that high pitch metal sound bothers me. sounds too much of a Diesel now than before.

Mine sounds similar when cold. After like 20-30 seconds it calms down and is quite silent

A little difficult to tell. Mine has done 35k and is quieter than that. Could be the hydraulic tappets or the timing chain. For peace of mind I would get a VW dealership to have a listen. I believe there is a plug that can be removed to inspect the timing chain for wear.
