New Engine sizes

Post by JohnC »

Ok, after hearing that there may be a new Scirocco TDi-170, I've been to the dealer to demand answers!!!

They have details 'on the system' now for the Golf GTi (270) and the Golf GTD (170), and are accepting orders for both.

They have provisional data for the Scirocco petrol with a smilar 270 engine. They expect to be allowed to start taking orders for that at the end of May/early June for delivery at the start of the 59 plate.

At the moment there is nothing in listings for the bigger 170 diesel Scirocco.

This would make some sense, since the petrol Scirocco launched first.

Whilst I might want it, launching the 170-diesel (which is much closer to the 2.0 petrol in performance) would be silly unless there was a petrol with an obvious performance differential.

Xenon's should be back on the options list also at the end of May.

GTi 270? Do you mean Gti 210 like the new Golf Gti? The Audi S3 "only" has 265, so surely the Scirocco wont have 270?

Would be 8) if it did though

I asked him twice, he was adamant that he was taking orders for a Golf GTi with 260-270 petrol, or a Golf 170 diesel.

I'm sure there is at least one person on the forum who works within VW who may be able to comment further

I have spoken to VW (not some clueless dealer trying to make a sale) to enquire about the faster golf and scirocco and I was told that the Golf R20 and Scirocco Studie R will be release Jan 2010 both 270PS

And the 170 diesel GT rocco is available to order from early june
